چکیده

Manipulation of control points is a standard procedure in B-spline surface patch design. Unfortunately, this tool alone is not suucient to achieve certain goals such as removing gaps among patches. In this paper, we introduce another approach for removing gaps but maintaining the geometrical smoothness condition. The only requirement is to sacriice the true B-spline representation along the boundary strips. Our method involves manipulation of B ezier coeecients along such strips, and we demonstrate the feasibility of this approach by considering the cubic setting.

Removal of Gaps among Compound C Bi-Cubic Parametric B-spline Surfaces

Manipulation of control points is a standard procedure in parametric B-spline surface design. Unfortunately, this tool alone is not sufficient to achieve certain goals such as removal of gaps among compound parametric B-spline surfaces. In this paper, we introduce a new approach for removing gaps but maintaining at least the geometrical smoothness condition. If the underlying knot sequences alo...

Biquintic G surfaces

This paper gives a construction to complete, at extraordinary points, an otherwise bi-cubic spline surface – so that the resulting surface is curvature continuous everywhere. To fill the n-sided gap in the bi-cubic surface, a cap is constructed from n spline patches, each consisting of 2× 2 pieces of polynomial degree bi-5. Particular care is taken to continue the curvature distribution from th...

Pairs of bi-cubic surface constructions supporting polar connectivity

Surface constructions of polynomial degree (3,3) come in four flavours that complement each other: one pair extends the subdivision paradigm, the other the NURBS patch approach to free-form modeling. The first pair, Catmull-Clark (Catmull and Clark, 1978) and Polar subdivision (Karčiauskas and Peters, 2007) generalize bi-cubic subdivision: While Catmull-Clark subdivision is more suitable where ...

Knot-removal surface fairing using search strategies

This paper presents two automatic fairing algorithms for parametric C-continuous bi-cubic B-spline surfaces. The fairing method consists of a knot removal and knot reinsertion step which locally smooths the surface. Search strategies like best-first-search and simulated-annealing are searching for the global minimum of the fairing measure. The best-first-search algorithm constructs only partial...

3D Reconstruction Using Cubic Bezier Spline Curves and Active Contours (Case Study)

Introduction 3D reconstruction of an object from its 2D cross-sections (slices) has many applications in different fields of sciences such as medical physics and biomedical engineering. In order to perform 3D reconstruction, at first, desired boundaries at each slice are detected and then using a correspondence between points of successive slices surface of desired object is reconstructed. Mate...
